On August 1st 2011, Korean American Voters’ Council (KAVC) New York interns and volunteers went to Queens Center Mall in Elmherst to gather surveys from the public. The interns and volunteers gathering the surveys were Daniel Chun, Peter Park, Gabriel Yoon, Stella Kim, Sangbo Nam, and Jae Eun Kim. The supervisor for this event was the assistant program director Nuri Han. Going into Queens Center Mall, the six interns and volunteers split into three groups of two. The groups went to different levels in the mall and asked people to fill out the survey. Starting from 2:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M, the interns and volunteers obtained 41 new surveys giving us a total of 90 surveys.

During this event, Hispanics were the main ethnicity that filled out the survey. Although there are a lot of diverse ethnicities in our survey, the survey is still lacking in Blacks and Southeast Asians. The Korean American Voters’ Council goal is to reach a total of 1000 surveys from both the New York and New Jersey office.
