KACE President Dongchan Kim received a Medal from South Korean Government

Mr. Donchan Kim, the president of Korean American Civic Empowerment (KACE) has received the Order of Civil Merit – Medal of Magnolia from the President of the Republic of Korea.

On October 22, 2019, the medal was given to Mr. Kim by the Consul General Hyo-sung Park on behalf of the Korean President Jae-in Moon at the Korean Consulate General in New York City.

Earlier this month, the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Mr. Kim was selected as a commendation to the Korean Government contributing to the development of overseas Korean society in commemoration of the 2019 World Korean Day.

Mr. Kim is a co-founder of the Korean American Civic Empowerment in New York and New Jersey, and contributed to the civic development and growth of the Korean American community, fostering the next generation of the Korean community, protecting human rights of immigrants, and promoting relations between Korea and the United States. Recognition was made for the nationwide campaign for the resolutions for victims of forced mobilization comfort women.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Kim has expressed the gratefulness that he has on the support from the community and his family, and emphasized the importance of grassroots movements such as KACE itself to make a better community.
