미국 연방 하원들의 한인의 날 축하 메시지 [추가]

2003년 미국 의회는 매년 1월 13일을 미주 한인의 날로 공표하였고 이제 11주년을 맞이하였다. 여러 연방 하원 의원들이 미주 한인의 날을 축하하는 다음과 같은 성명서들을 발표하고 2014년 1월 13일 한인의 날에 시민참여센터에 전달하였다.

It is a tremendous honor to join the Korean American community in celebrating the 111th anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States.

In 1903, the first Korean immigrants arrived in the U.S., and ever since that historic moment Korean Americans have played an integral role in the prosperity of America. The Korean community has contributed enormously to all aspects of our society; everything from strengthening our economy to improving our neighborhoods.

I am honored to represent a thriving Korean American community in New York, and I’m proud to salute the vibrancy and accomplishments that Korean Americans have and will continue to make to our nation.”

한인 이민 111주년을 기념하며 한인사회와 함께 한인의 날을 축하할 수 있게되서 아주 큰 영광입니다.

1903년의 첫 한인 이민자들이 미국에 도착한 후로부터 한인들은 미국의 성공과 번영에 매우 큰 역할을 해왔습니다. 한인사회는 미국 사회의 모든 부분의 발전에 기여했습니다. 미국의 경제를 강하게 만드는 것 부터 우리 사는 지역구를 발전시켰습니다.

뉴욕의 한인 사회를 의회에서 대표할 수 있음에 자부심을 느끼고, 한인들이 이 나라를 위해 한 모든 것을 기념할 수 있게 되어서 다시 한 번 큰 영광이라고 말하고 싶습니다.

As we celebrate the 111th anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States this year, I write to offer my sincerest support and encouragement to your organization and the entire Korean American community.

Korean Americans have a long history of enhancing the development, culture, and success of the United States. From their honorable service in World Wars I and II, as well as the Korean conflict, to their achievements in sports, science, and the arts, Korean Americans have a rich tradition of making meaningful contributions and sacrifices for our great nation. Since the first 102 Koreans immigrated here on January 13, 1903, your community has enriched the fabric of our American society.

Today, Korean Americans continue to innovate, prosper, and sacrifice for the United States in both the public and private sectors. Whether it’s service in a local, state, or the federal government, as a member of the Armed Forces, or contributions in fields like medicine, law, and business, Korean Americans have been instrumental in making the United States what it is today. In addition, the United States’ critical partnership with our friend and ally Korea is made incalculably stronger by the leadership of Korean Americans.

On this Korean American Day, January 13, I thank the entire Korean American community and join all Americans in celebrating their lasting legacy in the United States. I look forward to another productive and successful year working with you as we take our nation to even greater heights.

한인 이민 역사 111주년을 기념하며, 한인 여러분들께 응원과 격려를 하고 싶습니다.

한인들은 미국을 위해 예전부터 지금까지 혁신과 헌신을 추구하였습니다. 정부의 몸을 담고, 군인으로서 미국을 지키고, 다양한 분야에서 한인들은 현재의 미국을 건설하는데 많은 역할을 했습니다. 한인들의 리더쉽을 통해서 한국과 미국과의 관계가 증진되고 나날히 강해지고 있습니다.

오늘 여러분과 함께 한인의 날을 기념하고, 미주 한인들의 희생을 기억하게 되어서 감사합니다. 이번 한 해도 여러분과 함께 미국을 더 성장시키길 바랍니다.
