On July 7th, Korean American Voters’ Council (KAVC) discussed about the issues of Northern Boulevard parking regulations with New York City Councilman Peter Koo. KAVC specifically discussed about changing Northern Boulevard parking regulation that has been investigated since 2009, and requested Koo’s office to confirm the process and possibility of enforcing the changes.

On July 14th, Scarlette Cho of Councilman Peter Koo’s office has reported that New York City’s Traffic Planning and Queens Borough Engineering Office have evaluated the impact of eliminating or decreasing Northern Boulevard parking’s prohibited hours. However, the section of the Northern Boulevard is long, and because of the need to research about traffic pattern, that this evaluation will be hard to accomplish until end of this year. Councilman Peter Koo’s office promised to continue to have an interest in this issue and will solve the problem with Department of Transportation.

Korean-American Voters’ Council has continued the project about parking regulation change since 2009. The south side of Northern Boulevard prohibits parking 4 P.M to 7 P.M. This parking regulation has a huge impact on small businesses and has been less effective on traffic flow, suggesting removal of this regulation or reduces the parking time limit.
