Korean Americans Welcome the Nomination of Mr. Sung Kim as the Next U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea.

(June 4, 2011, New York) On behalf of two million Korean Americans, the Korean American Voters’ Council (KAVC) welcomes the nomination of Mr. Sung Kim as the next U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea. If Mr. Kim’s nomination is confirmed by Seoul and then the U.S. Senate, Mr. Kim will be the first Korean American who is appointed as the U.S. Ambassador to Korea.

Korean Americans strongly believe that Mr. Kim will strengthen the U.S.-Korea alliance and play very important roles in bringing peace and stabilization to Northeast Asia. Also Korean Americans are very happy and proud to have a Korean American as the U.S. Ambassador to Korea.

Mr. Dongchan Kim, president of KAVC, said, “we highly appreciate President Obama’s decision to nominate Mr. Kim. Also we are very sure that Mr. Kim’s nomination will encourage young Korean Americans to serve for our great country, the United States of America.”
