Opening of the 112nd Congress, January 5th, 2011

The 112nd Congress kicked off on January 5th with John Boehner being officially nominated as the Speaker of the House. In light of the opening of the Congress, the Korean American Voters’ Council (KAVC) visited Washington, DC to congratulate various representatives close to the Korean community on their re-election or nominations in various committees.

 

KAVC visited Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (D) who became the Chair of Committee on Foreign Affairs, Scott Garrett (R), the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government-Sponsored Enterprises for the House Financial Services Committee, Dan Burton (R), Gary Ackerman (D), Eni Faleomavaega (D), Mike Honda (D) and urged them to advocate for the Korean community in the 112th Congress. During the visits,

 

KAVC presented them with letters of appreciation for their work for the Korean community.

Executive Director Dongsuk Kim delivered the congratulatory word and asked for their hard work regarding the Korean community and Korea-US Affairs.
