  • Notice

The Queens Board of Elections is desparately looking for Korean Interpreters for the Special Election for the NYS Assembly District 24 on Feb. 9, 2009. About 20 stand-by Korean-English interpreter polistions are vacant. The stand-by interpreters will be stationed at the Board of Elections to fill the vacant positions at pollsites. Usually the vacancy is caused by unexpected Korean interpretation needs at pollsites or absence of assigned interpreters without notice. According to the Queens BOE, about 30% of Korean interpreters who are assigned at a pollsite do not show up on the election day. Therefore, the Board wants to have stand-by interpreters as many as possible so that they can fill the vacant positions on the election day.

Interpreter salary is $200 for working an election day, from 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

To apply for Korean interpreter position, please contact the Korean American Voters’ Council at 718-961-4117.
