On July 22nd, 2009, the KAVC interns continued their campaign. The interns separated into two groups, one group collecting signatures for the Alternate Side Parking petition, and the other two collecting signatures for the “comfort women” memorial petition. The group in charge of the Alternate Side Parking petition walked from 171st Street to 210th Street to ask for signatures, and the groups in charge of the comfort women memorial petition went to the senior center at the Korean Community Services establishment. The groups each came back separately around 1:20 PM to 1:45 PM, and had lunch. They collected a total of 107 signatures for the Comfort Women Memorial and a few signatures for the Alternate Side Parking. Overall, the residents of New York were more cooperative in KCS today, and a lot was accomplished to support the “Comfort Women” project. However, the Alternate Side Parking project was not as successful as the other days because many stores owned private parking lots.
