On Sunday, February 8, 2009, the Korean American Voters’ Council (KAVC) conducted a voter registration drive and community outreach at the Palisades Church in New Jersey. NJ Program Director Wonmo Kim, Secretary General Dongchan Kim, and Staff Attorney Chejin Park, Esq. registered new voters and educated the public on upcoming elections in early 2009 after attending church services with the local congregation.

A total of twenty new voters from both New York and New Jersey were registered on that day. A Korean representative for the 2010 Census also participated in community outreach and explained the importance in participating in the upcoming census so the community can be counted accurately, thereby conferring the rights and services necessary for the community by the government (such as language assistance and other public access programs).
