[독도 이름지키기] 북가주에서 온편지

북가주 산호세에 위치한 불교 참선 단체인 수선회의 박종성 선생께서 미의회 도서관에서 독도 이름을 바꾸고자 계획했던 회의를 저지하기 위한 유권자 센터의 팩스 보내기 운동 소문을 듣고 전화를 하여 300여통의 팩스를 보냈다고 연락을 하셨다. 아울러 박선생께서는 이러한 활동이 단발성으로 진행될 것이아니라 10년을 내다보는 활동으로 만들어 가야 할 것이라고 하면서 동포사회가 감정적인 분노만 하다가 잊어버리기 보다 지속적이고 꾸준한 연구와 활동을 준비하는 것이 필요하다고 하셨다.

Thanks for the information on the Dok Do issue which we all Koreans need to concentrate our efforts on to safeguard the territorial integrity of Korea. Enclosed are a couple of newspaper articles published by Joong Ang Ilbo and Han Kook Ilbo in Northern California on the letter campaign being carried out by Susun Hoi in support of your organized effort.

Thanks a lot for the activity.
This effort is really important to alert any potential danger as short term goal in a defensive way.

In the mean time, I think Korean society needs more effort to provide positive impact of Korean Culture to US and its integrity to main society.
For a simple example, I don’t know an amount of Korean books on Dokdo (or our history) in US Congress library compared to Japanese verion of books.
I bet we have much less than Japanese.
How about Korean cultural stuffs?
I think the early movement of the congress library was one of consequence based on our history and we need to be aware of that.
Let’s put more effort on that along with Korean government and Korean-American community

We have been improving the effort recently, but need to do more for long term and also positive ways.
This thought is not for your group, but for me and all of us.
