JOB DESCRIPTION
Name of Employer: Korean American Civic Empowerment for Community Inc.
Position Title: Staff Attorney
Duties:
- Client Services:
- Conduct client intakes and provide legal consultations.
- Represent clients in various legal matters, including, immigration, housing, public benefits, and voting rights.
- Develop and maintain client files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Community Outreach and Education:
- Lead and participate in community workshops and legal clinics.
- Develop educational materials and conduct presentations on legal rights and resources.
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance outreach efforts.
- Legal Research and Case Management:
- Perform legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations.
- Draft legal documents, such as briefs, memoranda, and pleadings.
- Manage a caseload efficiently, providing timely updates and communications to clients.
- Partnership and Collaboration:
- Work with volunteer attorneys and legal interns, guiding them in their service delivery.
- Collaborate with other departments and external organizations to address systemic issues affecting clients.
- Advocacy and Policy Work:
- Monitor legislative and policy developments affecting the community.
- Engage in advocacy efforts to promote legal reforms and protections.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Juris Doctor Degree
Experience: None
Language: Speaking and writing in Korean
License: New York State Bar Admission
Hours: 40 Hours / 09:00 AM to 5:00 PM
