On Friday, July 29 2011 KAVC (Korean American Voters’ Council) interns met with Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein and presented their “Buy Local, Shop Smart” campaign.
The “Buy Local, Shop Smart” campaign intends to show that when a local consumer shifts 10% of his economic spending from chain stores to local stores, the economic impact to the community is increased three times. By educating the public about this coalition, the consumer will learn that job opportunities increase and the currency circulates inside the economy.
Edward Braunstein states that the small businesses are very important to the economy. Braunstein being in the small business committee, he emphasizes that this campaign is important and crucial for consumer education. Braunstein also emphasizes that the residents need to fix their own communities first, before they fix their city. Once the communities are repaired, then the city will fix itself. Braunstein was in full support with our coalition. Even though budget was not discussed, he gave us a press list. The press list contained important newspaper companies, and Braunstein is willing to help our advertisements.
The people that presented on July 29, 2011 to Edward C. Braunstein are Daniel Chun (Quenns HS for Sciences 12th) Ye Jun Hahn (Bayside HS 10th) Sangbo Nam (Hunter College HS) and Nuri Han (Assistant Program Director)
