LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Grassroots Internship

  • Annually, over 30 high school and college interns participated in various community grassroots project for thirty-six weeks from April to November
  • The interns deal with community issues and work with the local government or politicians to resolve the community problems for community development (e.g., NJ State Korean Voter Registration Form and Comfort Women Memorial Project)
  • Through the program the interns cultivate rich cultural and social identity to be responsible and confident member of the U.S society
  • Due to the interns’ excellent contribution for the local community and the U.S society, KACE’s interns have received Presidential Volunteer’s Service Awards, Community Service Commendations from the U.S Senator, Congressmen, State Assemblymen, and City CouncilGrassroots Summer Activist Training

Grassroots Summer Activist Training

  •  ‘Grassroots Summer Activist Training’’ is designed to educate participants about grassroots activism, which includes, but not limited to, outreach & organization of the community, grassroots lobbying, and techniques to utilize media & social networks
  • KACE has provided Grassroots Summer Activist Training since 2012 and participants for the program are the Korean American community leaders or activists form nation-wide in the U.S.
  • The Grassroots Summer Activist Training Program provides a unique opportunity to learn vital skills and techniques to organize the Korean American community to develop networking with other community organizers over the nation
  • KACE educates participants about community organize, grassroots activities and lobbying, utilizing media & SNS, and leadership skills

Civic Academy

  • KACE provides ‘Civic Academy’ to  the various groups of community members
  • Curriculum of Civic Academy is developed to educate local government system and on-going issues in local community where the participants belongs and how to resolve the issues as community members
  • Throughout Civic Academy program, KACE aims to empower community members and encourages civic participation

Northeast Asian History Internship at QCC

  • ‘North Asian History Internship’ is jointly operated by KACE and  the Kupferberg Holocaust Center at Queenborough Community College
  • This program is for students at Queensborough Community College. Student learns about Northeast Asian History and war crimes committed by Japan during World War II.  Students also   interview victims of  war crimes and compile and archive their testimonies as the result of program.
  • Northeast Asian History Internship program is designed to preserve human rights by teaching the truth of history, not as an anti-Japanese program.

 

**Korean American Civic Empowerment for Community is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the Internal Revenue Service. Your donations and contributions are tax-deductible. KACE sends out certificates of contribution within 15 days of receipt. Please take the certificate(s) to your tax professional when preparing your annual tax return.If you choose to support us regularly or at multiple times, we can send a certificate at the end of the year as well.
