Before the April 27th NJ School Board Elections, the Korean American Voters’ Council (KAVC) held a voter registration drive at the Hope Church (Rev. Seungjoon Lee) and urged Korean Americans to participate in the elections.
The last day of voter registration before the School Board Elections is April 6th. A total of 10 Korean Americans are on the candidate list for the School Board positions. The Korean American community needs representation especially because of cultural and languages differences. In order to create a learning environment that underscores tolerance for students with language and culture barriers, participation from Korean school board members in each township is absolutely essential.
For today’s campaign, Fort Lee School Board Candidate Helen Yoon and Paul Yoon from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office participated. From KAVC, President Dongchan Kim, NJ Program Director Wonmo Kim and Volunteer Hyohwang Kim (Senior, Francis Lewis HS) participated in the campaign.
KAVC held a voter registration drive at H-Mart Ridgefield the day before (Saturday, March 26). 46 New Jersey voters and 2 New York voters registered during the two drives.
